The Truth About Suffering

Dr. Rocky Ramsey uncovers profound truths about suffering and its purpose in the Christian life. Jesus' suffering was the means by which God saved us from the penalty of sin, while our suffering is part of how God works to save us from sin’s ongoing power. God’s ultimate desire is for us to embody Christ in our unique circumstances—living with integrity, speaking truth, and revealing His character through both our words and how we endure hardship.

Jesus serves as our example: He showed us how to live with honesty, how to suffer with self-control and trust, and how to die with purpose and grace. Through His death, Jesus bore our sins, offering us salvation from sin's penalty and daily victory over its power. This sermon calls us to reflect on how we, like Jesus, can honor God even in the hardest moments of life.

For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth; and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.
