BORN TO DIE
Dr. Rocky Ramsey dives into Matthew 16:24-26, which calls us to embrace the paradox of the Christian life. The message begins by emphasizing that God knows and desires what is best for us, even when we don't fully understand it. While we often seek what is best for ourselves, our limited perspective means we can't always identify it. Surprisingly, God's best for us may look very different from what we expect.
Dr. Rocky Ramsey highlights the counterintuitive nature of the Christian walk: to be great, we serve others; to live our best life, we must restrict our own desires; to gain, we must give; to experience freedom, we must forgive; and to save our lives, we must give them up. This calls us to “die” to ourselves — choosing to go against our desires in favor of God’s greater plan.
The sermon also speaks to the personal choice of allowing ourselves to "die" in order to become the people God intended us to be. Ultimately, when we surrender our lives to God, we allow Him — not our circumstances — to control us, opening the door to true freedom and fulfillment.
“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”
